HI, this day was boring in my house  Tongue, and thinking about the spykee aspect  and the wireless perfomance comes to the conslusion will need a retouch!!  Grin.

Searching some parts for recycling (to save money logically), find a Dlink router and unmounting them extracted the mini pci wifi, and the antenna with the wire included.

This mod is very easy, quickly and increases the performance in 50%, and permits connect via inet and the wifi dsl modem if the signal streng is not very good, or the modem is situated in a far place for home´s structural reasons.

Because an image is better than thousand words...here comes ;-)

Haha love it.  Grin Grin

Quite a cool mod, did make me chuckle though, seeing that big bendy black antenna sticking out of his ass Wink

All you need now is a pringles can attached to your laptop (Directional) and a long long road to see how far you can drive him before your signal deteriates. Or battery dies!!

Unfortuanately for me, I live in a cramped one bedroom flat and do not have anywhere for spykee to stretch his tracks as it is, so I will not need to do this mod.

Love it though, keep up the good work.

;)Thank u!! The better of this mod is that is very easy, only 20 minutes more or less (once all parts recollected obviously).

The next step will be a radical mod imitating the Irobot of swat tactical forces, putting two power led focus and change the camera aspect, providing to the robot an more serious aspect...

COME SOON!!!

Ok, move to the complete section!!! Grin

Thanks a lot...the next mod step is in progress now...I think in a couple of hard work days will be ready... Cool

The most difficult is the camera and light system, and the new "home made" battey pack made with AA Sony cells with 2980 Mah, and permits many charge-discharge cycles.

The electronics of light system project is very easy, and completly separatted from the main unit power with a 9 volts rechargeable battery and a mini relay, controlled by the oem led system and sepparated by the relay, this systems could be recharged via dock (modifing the dock) when the robot is parking avoiding mix the main voltage with the light system, so the electronics needs less components and electronic knowlegde (for all people!!).

The most difficult I think will be the final aspect, but I have a clear idea about, I only expect the real seems with the theory... Huh Huh

Thanks for all for ur support and congrats...Regards...

Yes, I´ve seen it thanks a lot. But I would preffer make my own battery, because I have the sony cells at home and is very easy and cheapest...

Hi drchandra,

Can you explain what you mean please?
Anything to do with cameras and Im very very interested, its what I do for a living.

Are you talking about having a Pan Tilt Zoom camera on spykee?
I dont understand what you mean by "Aspect"?  Aspect ratio maybe??

Cheers

Hi, all .CdRsKuLL, thanks a lot for move the post to completed!!! Cool!!  Cool (maybe my pictures are not the better  Tongue).

Answering ur question...I reffer to modidy the general aspect in the the next way:

-Use a two led or 9-12V focus to increase the light performance, mounted into a mobil base with one axis (up-down) providing the robot 360º of vision using the base movement.

-The camera servo will be controlled via rc trought usb dongle, at the moment, is the best idea because with no access to total code of the sdk is very difficult and inexact move using the leds, because the leds are falshing all time.

- About the camera, I´m doing a home made zoom using the other channel of the usb dongle, the zoom is optical 100 per 100, the optical is recycled of a old objective, and moves using a servo forward-reverse.

-The next issue, a cosmetic mod, will be paint the robot using black mate paint and swat logo in the nose (simmilar to swat Irobot).

Upload the schemathic diagrams (dont be cruel!! hand made!! ;-)) Grin....

Hi, Why dont you use CdRsKuLL's Arduino Code to Tilt the camera?

Here is something you might find of interest, http://www.marshall.co.za/lens-pinhole.html

Think i'd wait a while first, just incase this SDK is released sometime soon.

Yes, it´s a solution use the arduino code (it´s a good work, and I was thinking about it), but only could move the camera up-down or the zoom, not both, is an election...the usb dongle permits move the camera and the zoom at same time...certanly need to use the usb console separately or reprogram the code...I think difficult...uhmm

In other way of things...great aportation Crazydiamond, the Marshall products are perfect, but seems are expensive, no?? Because no prices in the web... :-(

Well, it depends on what level of Zoom you want? They can do upto 20mm or upto 50mm! thats incredible. Also depends on the chip used by the spykee camera.

Around 300 quid I think, there are other out there with smaller lens, 6mm etc

I wonder if we can change the camera completely? I will look into it but I doubt its a standard camera, more like a web cam.

Yes, I´m trying to find "no driver needed" camera, sold in many places with leds too, I think is a standard webcam, like this...http://www.pcbox.com/catalogo/ficha.asp?lan=es&cnt=es&prec=1&prod=2625

Is a conceptronic camera with automatic leds controlled by a light sensor (a photodiode), if it works will be amazing because we have the led oem relay free for purpose, and the price is very very very cheapest!!!...

What do u think??...
